Clarke's underground selection throbs with restless adrenalin giving computer music a raw funk and contagious punch that hauls listeners and dancers in alike - this is a DJ near the very pinnacle of his considerable abilities.

Coming off the back of his well-received 'Devil's Advocate' and 'Live' albums, Dave Clarke is on blistering form with this sequel to 01's 'World Service'. As with the original, Clarke raises the bar for techno and electro DJs everywhere.

Completely mixed on his beloved Technics DZ1200 CD decks, 'World Service 2' is chopped, scratched and cut up with devastating hip hop influenced panache - despite being firmly a bangin' tech / electro compilation. "Techno and electro isn't just dance music," he says, "it's a challenging alternative to the music that bleeds kids dry and doesn't progress anything, the music I call opium music."

On these two CDs he lives up to such fighting talk. The electro mix starts out twisting through tracks, diving into tough British grit and the requisite dose of sex n' sleazin', thanks to the likes of International Deejay Gigolo, Chris McCormack, Advent, Kim Peers, Junesex, GDX and the closing hip-as-f#@% punk-funk of New Yorkers Silicon Soul.

His take on techno is no less refreshing, journeying through a huge variety of styles, embracing the rude humour of Detroit's booty-tek but never losing sight of crunching four-to-the-floor dynamism and dropping acts such as DJ Rush, DJ Funk, Ryuchi Sakamoto, Underground Resistance, Joey Beltram, MU, Alex Peace and A.J.McGhee.

Dave Clarke's underground selection throbs with restless adrenalin giving computer music a raw funk and contagious punch that hauls listeners and dancers in alike. 'World Service 2' showcases a DJ near the very pinnacle of his considerable abilities.
