In many ways this is an extension of this young kiwi band's critically acclaimed debut EP 'The Panther Valley Country Club', weaving a subtle sound that is intelligent, spacious yet layered.
'Beneath the Sleepy Lagoon' is in many ways an extension of Ghostplane's critically acclaimed debut EP 'The Panther Valley Country Club'.
They are an excellent live band who have built their reputation playing with Calexico, Lambchop, Phoenix Foundation, SJD, Dimmer, Fang, the Pretenders and others.
Much of the tracking while recording the album was re-amped by feeding the sounds through the large, dark and cavernous church studio room, and then re-recording the resulting sonic tones into the mixes. Therefore the complete album has an understated complexity that demands multiple listens. It weaves a subtle sound that is intelligent, spacious yet layered.
Ghostplane are: Achilles Botes (vocal, guitar), Mark Dryburgh (vocal, guitar), Ash Harmer (bass, vocals), Andrew Grayson (drums) Mike Scudder (keys, trumpet).
