"...he turns on the fireworks with a vengence..."-Stereo Review

Considered by both critics and audiences alike as one of the outstanding pianists of the day, Horacio Gutierrez appears regularly with the world's greatest orchestras, and on its major recital series.

Since his professional debut in 1970 with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Conductor Zubin Mehta, Horacio Gutierrez has appeared regularly with Lorin Maazel (leading the Cleveland Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, Orchestre National de France and Pittsburgh Symphony), Andre Previn (with the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic, Orchestre de Paris, and the Chica-go, Boston and Pittsburgh Symphonies) and Zubin Mehta (conducting the Los Angeles, New York and Israel Philharmonics). Other maestros with whom Mr. Gutierrez has performed include Michael Tilson Thomas, Gerard Schwarz, Klaus Tennstedt, David Zinman, Edo de Waart, Kurt Masur, Eduardo Mata, Andrew Davis, James Levine, Seiji Ozawa, Chrsitoph Escenbach, and Daniel Barenboim.

The 1992-93 season's highlights included performances with the Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco, Cincinnati, Utah, Seattle and National Symphony Orchestras, and recitals at Carnegie Hall, as well as Cleveland, Los Angeles, Princeton and St. Louis.

The 1991-92 season saw performances with the San Francisco, Detroit and National Symphony Orchestras, and Orchestre National de France. He also performed the Previn Piano Concerto with the Pittsburgh Symphony, the composer conducting, and appeared with the Pittsburgh Symphony under Lorin Maazel at New York's Avery Fisher Hall. Festival engagements included Ravinia, France's Roque d'Antheron, and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. Other recent performances have been with the Los Angeles and New York Philharmonics; Baltimore, Indianapolis, Houston and Dallas Symphonies; Royal Concertgebouw, Minnesota and Cleveland Orchestras.

A favorite of New York concertgoers, Mr. Gutierrez is a frequent soloist at Lincoln Center's "Mostly Mozart" Festival (including a "Live from Lincoln Center" telecast) and has per-formed numerous times at Avery Fisher Hall and Carnegie Hall, in recital and with orchestra. With the Y Chamber Chorus he played William Schuman's Piano Concerto in honor of the composer's 75th birthday. As a chamber musician he has played with the Guarneri, Tokyo and Cleveland Quartets. In 1982 he received the prestigious Avery Fisher Prize
