Hard, melodic, arty, angular - this is an album of stark contrasts, a refreshing experimental edge and a marriage of the organic and gaudy gadgetry. Fans of the Blood Brothers' brand of potent emotion will love it.

Neon Blonde is the alter ego of Blood Brothers lead singer Johnny Whitney and drummer Mark Gajadhar.

Unlike the often frantic and frenzied songs of the duo's other band, Neon Blonde is a much more eclectic, dancing and melodious venture, which touches on the art-rock tunes of Brian Eno and early David Bowie, the epic falsetto balladry of Freddie Mercury and the effect-wizardry of early Roxy Music. A meandering stroll in the park, this is not!

The Seattle band's ambitious debut album 'Chandeliers In The Savannah' is a collision of elements - rickety old drum machines, chiming guitars, pugilistic drum breaks, slinking pianos and singer Whitney's characteristic wailing falsetto leading over the top, with his rhythmic, angular approach to lyrics.

Frankly, the man goes off! He screams and coos poetically over spooky piano arpeggios, soaring synthesizers and jagged guitar lines. A remarkable voice wielded by a man unafraid of crashing over the edge.

Hard, melodic, arty, angular - this is an album of stark contrasts, a refreshing experimental edge and a marriage of the organic and gaudy gadgetry. 'Chandeliers In The Savannah' is infectious and stands out from the crowd!

Fans of the Blood Brothers' brand of potent emotion will love it - challenging though ultimately rewarding.
