Monica Groop's wide-ranging career is based upon a repertory of great musical adventurousness - a rich and varied mixture of baroque music, classical repertoire and modern masters. She made her professional début with the Finnish National Opera in 1987, and has been an international mainstay since her London début at Covent Garden in the highly acclaimed 1991 Wagner Ring Cycle conducted by Bernard Haitink.
She has performed with many of the world's foremost opera companies including the Bayerische Staatsoper, Covent Garden, the Royal Opera of Stockholm, the opera houses in Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Cologne, Paris and the New York City Opera.
Orchestra appearances include the Chicago Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Symphony, Symphonie-Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Dresden Staatskapelle, Leipzig Gewandhausorchester, Orchestre National de France and Wiener Symphoniker under such conductors as Carlo Maria Giulini, Bernard Haitink, Zubin Mehta, Sir Colin Davis, Herbert Blomstedt, Neeme Järvi, Myung Whun Chung, Franz Welser-Möst, Kent Nagano, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Paavo Berglund and the late Sir Georg Solti.
An accomplished recitalist, Ms Groop has given solo recitals at New York´s Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall, London´s Wigmore Hall and Musikverein in Vienna, appearing regularly with pianists András Schiff, Roger Vignoles and Ilmo Ranta.
