The super-heavy raw and upfront drum-break driven grooves have set dancefloors alight! "The best new deep funk band in the world today." - Adrian Gibson, Freestyle

"As hot as Christmas Day on Bondi Beach!"
- witchsbrew.co.uk

"I love them!”
- Will Holland aka Quantic

The Bamboos made an initial impact on DJs across the world with their early 7” releases pricking ears belonging to the likes of Kenny Dope, Keb Darge, Mr Scruff, Jazzanova and Snowboy. The super-heavy raw and upfront drum-break driven grooves set dancefloors alight and soon they'd attracted the attention of Tru Thoughts, home to Alice Russell and Quantic.

Their debut album 'Step It Up' is a churning deep funk monster and shows why the group have connected as much with hip hop heads as with the funk crowd - this is a new band playing quality music designed for dancing!

They may be familiar to switched on NZ listeners as the backing band for the incendiary Quantic Soul Orchestra Heineken Green Room Sessions, which took place late in '05, where they backed up Will Holland aka Quantic and Alice Russell on their own tunes, QSO tunes, Quantic tunes and Alice Russell tunes, in one of the standout shows of the year, hands down.

This ain't trying to be retro - it's merely keeping alive a form of music that still influences a whole host of musical styles, including hip hop. To exemplify this, a cover version of Afronaught's broken-beat anthem "Transcend Me" is twisted from their reel to reel analogue tape into a funk beast, showing how The Bamboos are more than relevant today. Essential.
