"Young People's contagious slow-core vibrancy and unwillingness to settle for an obvious post-punk narrative explodes their humble DIY into a wonderfully zealous act." - Pitchfork

You won't hear another record like Young People's 'All At Once' album, one where not a single note is wasted, where so much is communicated in so few sounds, with such a seductive ambiance and so resonant an atmosphere. Few records sound so deliciously desolate, so powerfully solitary - yet so remarkably beautiful and fragile. It's quite an achievement.

Young People formed when Katie Eastburn and founder Jeff Rosenberg moved to LA, hooking up with Jarrett Silberman, which eventually led to the trio forming Young People. Their structure is a little different to most though: the three swap instruments between songs and bring influences from gospel, country and blues to theatre, show tunes and soundtracks.

Young People's music runs the full gamut from exultance and joy to depression and anger. 'All At Once' is an engagingly sparse album of pure emotions, subtle musical leanings and clever instrumental interplay beneath wonderfully simple lyrics.

If you're not convinced by this write up, listen closely to 'All At Once'. There's not a single note, a tear, a moment, wasted. These songs have been painstakingly crafted to maximize the empty spaces and feeling of drifting within the music. Very special.

"It's beautiful, because what you hear is two solitary impulses which have met, and feel synergistic with each other. If there's any overwhelming feeling behind Young People, it's gratitude. We try not to waste people's time."
- Katie Eastburn
