Stepfather: Limited Edition

People Under The Stairs formed when Mike Turner aka Double K and Chris Portugal aka Thes One, met on the fringes of LA's late-90s hip hop underground. The duo, devoted to jazzy samples, danceable beats, intricate rhyming skills and laidback humour, have since gone on to critical acclaim, a massive fanbase and a stellar track record of banging hip hop albums.

Now the pair return with a brand new slice of vinyl-centric hip hop, 'Stepfather', released on their own PUTS Records label!

Using obscure drum machines and running mic pre-amps to the point of intentional distortion, PUTS have created a sonic kaleidoscope of textured and layered beats which are complimented by their refreshingly cool narratives of LA hip hop life.

In fact, a better description of 'Stepfather' might be that of a hip hop history book on CD! From the old school beats with those classic SP1200 drums and rich Hammond organ keys to new school progressive tracks with live guitar and bass, 'Stepfather' is by far PUTS' most intricate and musically advanced album to date. Considering their track record, that's a big call indeed!

'Stepfather' also features guest appearances from legendary Funkadelic and Parliament member George Clinton, Monty Stark [Stark Reality] and Kat [Crown City Rockers].
