The Essential Taj Mahal

[ Legacy Records / 2 CD ]

Release Date: Tuesday 27 June 2006

When American multi-instrumentalist Taj Mahal released his 1968 self-titled debut album, it heralded the arrival of a unique talent. An album of mostly early Blues songs, Mahal presented updated versions stamping them with his electrifying style.

This compilation features songs from that album right through his period at Columbia Records and gives an insight into the broad influences that resulted in Mahal becoming one of the most well-regarded players of his generation.
