State of Mind is a local drum and bass duo consisting of Patrick Hawkins and Stu Maxwell. One of the first UK artists to take an interest in State Of Mind was Oxford-based duo (and arguably the most prolific artists in the history of drum and bass), Total Science. This resulted in releases on the shelves from Total Science's CIA Recordings, Teebee's Subtitles Records, Futurebounds Viper label, Doc Scott's 31 Records, Simon Bassline Smith's Technique Recordings, and two tunes on the current 'Bad Company Presents Bad Taste' LP.

Now comes the State of Mind debut album, released on Concord Dawn's Uprising label. Concord Dawn have revolutionized the way people listen to Drum and Bass music in New Zealand - Pat and Stu are extremely honoured to be working with these innovative pioneers.

Jackhammer snares, gut-churning kick drums and thunderous sub-bass are paired with a seemingly endless supply of infectious basslines and thematic effects. Ditching the blueprint standard of many drum and bass tunes, the State of Mind construction has continuously achieved its goal of optimum dancefloor satisfaction.
