The Pick of Destiny

Jack Black & Kyle Glass are the high-power / metal duo Tenacious D and 'The Pick of Destiny' is the riotous accompaniment to their film of the same name. It reflects the greatest moments in the movie, as the "D" go on a quest to find the guitar pick of lore that will guarantee them rock star greatness!

Jack (actor from 'Shallow Hal'; 'High Fidelity'; 'School of Rock'; 'King Kong'; and more) & Kyle formed "the greatest band in the world" in real life during 1994, playing their unique brand of comedic parody / rock in the bars of Los Angeles.

A short-lived U.S. cable TV show followed, becoming a cult sensation and gaining influential fans in the music industry with it's over-the-top parody of 2 wannabe musicians trying to make it on the L.A. open mic circuit.

The band were eventually signed up to Epic Records, and after their excellent self-titled debut our heroes began touring the world. This then led them on to making the 'Pick of Destiny' movie and of course, this brilliant soundtrack.

As a pure audio only experience, 'The Pick of Destiny' CD is noticeably heavier than the D's first effort; concentrating totally on songs and excluding the in-between banter & skits of their original effort, and indeed the film. Therefore, it's possible that those who haven't seen the movie might not get the jokes, etc. The answer of course is to get hold of the DVD and watch that too!!! ;-)
