Essentially a hipper version of Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass, The Mariachi Brass features many of LA's top session men, including Tom Scott, Herb Ellis, Victor Feldman, Al Casey, and Tommy Tedesco.

Appearing on CD for the first time, these two albums are notable for the musical arrangements by Jack Nitzsche and despite the "cheesy" nature of some of the material, Chet Baker is on record as saying that he enjoyed The Mariachi Brass sessions. Throughout both albums Chet Baker's playing is very warm and involving.
