Raw, aggressive, melodic and stoned out, 'Dead Planet is a return to form from ex-Kyuss and Queens Of The Stone Age bass player Nick Oliveri!

"Positively brilliant!”
- Metal Hammer

"Easily the finest Mondo/Oliveri release yet.”
- Allmusic.com

Mondo Generator was originally formed in '97 by ex-Kyuss members Nick Oliveri, Josh Homme and drummer Brant Bjork, though the bands initial recordings were shelved when Oliveri and Homme went on to form the hugely successful Queens Of The Stone Age. Eventually these recordings came out in 2000 as the album 'Cocaine Rodeo', while a further album 'A Drug Problem That Never Existed' was released in late '03. Since Oliveri's departure from Queens Of The Stone Age, he has taken control of the Mondo Generator project as his solo venture and the band's change of name reflects this.

'Dead Planet: SonicSlowMotionTrails' is Nick Oliveri at his very best. From the raw bass driven aggression of first single "I Never Sleep” to the whirling melodies of "So High”, from the stoned out trip of "Take Me Away” to the chugging Ramones-esque "Mental Hell”, this is an album that merges driven punk rock with Nick Oliveri's unique vocal and lyrical approach. The songs found here also have the hooks that show why he was such an important part of both Kyuss and Queens Of The Stone Age, while the album was also recorded largely at Studio 606, Dave Grohl's studio in LA.

While Oliveri is most famous for being in legendary Southern California "stoner rock” band Kyuss, and the Queens Of The Stone Age, he is also known in punk rock circles as Rex Everything in The Dwarves. He is also a solo artist and frequent contributor to his friends' albums and tours, including Winnebago Deal, Mark Lanegan Band and Masters Of Reality. In the past he's been involved with The Desert Sessions and The River City Rapists, while he's also gained fame for playing naked - most memorably being arrested at the Rock In Rio Festival.
