'Somewhere, Anywhere' is the follow up album to New Buffalo's acclaimed '04 debut 'The Last Beautiful Day'. Featuring guest vocals from Beth Orton, and drums from Dirty Three's Jim White, the album captivated both fans and critics alike. Soon after the Australasian release, New Buffalo signed a deal with US indie Arts and Crafts {Broken Social Scene, Feist, Stars} for North America, paving the way for the album to also be released in the UK and Europe as well as in Japan.

Now New Buffalo returns with a new approach - clearing away the dreamy cinematic haze of her previous records, singer / songwriter Sally Seltmann's second album is as crisp as the ocean air. The songs on 'Somewhere, Anywhere' were written on a century-old piano by the sea and recorded in a flower-flanked toolshed in Sally's backyard, conveying a newfound directness in her music that is as frank as it is beguiling.

Compared to her internationally acclaimed debut, which had intricate layers of sepia-warm samples and strings, 'Somewhere, Anywhere' is more "home style, like a home cooked meal”. Sally wanted the album to "sound like the soundtrack to a children's story book” - though slightly warped, like 'The Wizard Of Oz' or 'Willy Wonka'.

While Sally recorded most of the instruments on 'Somewhere, Anywhere', a few crucial guests joined her for the ride, including her husband Darren Seltmann {The Avalanches}, Kellie Sutherland {Architecture In Helsinki}, Dale Packard {Ground Components} and John Lee {Mountains In The Sky}.

"I didn't really think in terms of 'era' for this album,” concludes Sally, "It's more like walking down a huge open highway, feeling lost and uncertain, but the more you listen to yourself and your inner most thoughts, the more you start to notice the wild flowers, and the beauty within the imagination, within the contrasting elements of all things.”

"…an album of lace on satin… for ladies and gentlemen.”
- Sydney Morning Heral
