Hibernation, putting your feet up, downtime, breather… whatever you want to call it, you may well say that about Pine recently. But as it turns out they've actually been pretty damn busy under the radar touring the country playing in people's lounges from Kumeu to Oamaru, filming it all on 16mm film and recording their EP 'Twelve Hour Collision'. Well, it's actually more a mini album, with 7 new tracks, 2 live recordings and 2 live videos from their house tour.

'Twelve Hour Collision' was recorded at the new Pine space in the port of Lyttelton and utilised the talents of Brendon Davies-Patrick and Dale Cotton {HDU, Subliminals} for the engineering/co-producing and mixing/mastering respectively.

The house tour came about as a conscious departure from the traditional method of promotion, producing more relaxed, intimate performances - which seeped into the recording of the new tracks also. It's a sort of loud, quiet, whisper, shout thing, with snare and brushes until the guitars and keyboards are turned up and the sonically louder trio emerges.

As well as making audio recordings of each event - 2 tracks feature here - Pine brought along cinematographer John Christoffels with his Super 16mm film camera, documenting each of the gigs - and again, 2 of the favourites are here!
