This powerful African male choir sings in the traditional mbube style. This male choral approach appeared in the early 20th century as Ingoni Ebusuku, "Night Music". In the early 1940s one of the Ingoni Ebusuku groups recorded a song "Mbube" (the Lion), which later became a model for the international hit song "Wimaweh" (The Lion Sleeps Tonight). From then on this music has become known as "Mbube".
