La Cucaracha

Alt-rock legends Ween return with their eleventh full-length album. 'La Cucaracha' was recorded with longtime producer Andrew Weiss at a converted farmhouse in Dean and Gene Ween's hometown of New Hope, Pennsylvania.

The album opens with the horn-heavy instrumental "Fiesta," which has been a part of Ween's recent live shows and closes with another road-tested track, "Your Party," which features guest jazz saxophonist and long time Ween fan David Sanborn.

Other album tracks include the back-porch country jam "Learnin To Love," the nearly 11-minute rocker "Woman And Man" and "Spirit Walker," a prog-rock homage with disorienting vocal effects and noises. The set also sports a different version of "Friends" than the techno-fueled take which appeared on the recent EP of the same name.

"Ween consumes popular culture at a furious rate, regurgitating demented interpretations to the delight of their fans. Via peculiar guitar / voice effects and crackpot grooves, the band has become known for their takes on standard musical tropes ranging from Irish folk to 70s era stadium rock.
