Julie and the Jazz Divas (Susan De Jong, Trudy Lile, and Jenine Bailey) are joined on this wonderful album by well known New Zealand jazz performers, Brian Smith (saxophone), Lance Su'a (guitar), and Phil Broadhurst (piano).
Julie Mason has been an ever present on the New Zealand jazz scene for a number of years. She has performed with NZ's finest and has also performed overseas at Jazz Festivals and venues in Australia and Europe. As a solo artist she was nominated for a Jazz Award in 2005, and currently teaches jazz vocals at the New Zealand School of Music.
Julie is joined in the Jazz Divas by Susan De Jong, Trudy Lile, and Jenine Bailey. 'Charmed Life' consists of arrangements of popular songs from the likes of Duke Ellington, Rogers & Hart, and Tom Waits. The result is a very accessible easy listening jazz album that showcases these superb local talents.
The CD features a stellar band including well known New Zealand jazz performers Brian Smith (saxophone), Lance Su'a (guitar), and Phil Broadhurst (piano).
