Acclaimed musical luminary, Daniel Lanois has created here an album full of viscerally powerful & beautiful new tracks that rank amongst his best; showcasing one of the most distinctive & celebrated producers of our time.

'Here is What Is' - the remarkable sixth solo from Daniel Lanois - strikes a chord for independence as the first major release on his own Red Floor Records. An acclaimed singer / songwriter / producer - known for working on some of the greatest albums of the last two decades (from such artists as U2; Bob Dylan; Brian Eno; The Neville Brothers; and more.), Daniel has crafted here an album full of viscerally powerful & beautiful new tracks that rank amongst his best.

'Here is What Is' was recorded in Toronto, Los Angeles and Shreveport, L.A. with drummer Brian Blade (Joshua Redman; Joni Mitchell; Norah Jones) and pianist Garth Hudson (The Band) and captures Daniel's signature musical sensibilities & virtuosity. The album also includes philosophical interludes & inspiring conversations with Brian Eno, taken from the film by the same name.

The film 'Here is What Is', which debuted at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival, is available separately on DVD. In Daniel's words, "The film is a camera following me around over the course of a year, in and out of recording studios, documenting once and for all the way it really happens." Directed by Adam Vollick, Adam Samuels, and Daniel himself, 'Here is What Is' captures the art of making a record and showcases one of the most distinctive & celebrated producers of our time.
