Associated with the legendary London producer Joe Meek, Houston Wells was a popular country music star of the 1960s. "Houston Wells & The Marksmen" toured and recorded extensively from 1962 to 1966 and supported the likes of The Beatles, Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash and Hank Locklin.

They scored a succession of hits in the UK against all the trends of pop music of the times with their classic country sound. The band split up in the late 60s and after stints in other bands Houston Wells packed in the industry and emigrated to New Zealand with his children.

Although he continued to write music it wasn't until the mid-90's when Houston preformed at an informal get-together in Australia and caught the bug again.

This double CD is a mixture of Houston's classic old cuts, some of which have been lovingly re-mixed. Plus on CD 2 all new never heard material recorded recently in stereo, all exclusive to this release.
