Ersi Arvizu is a voice from the past, in that heart-tugging, goosebumps-raising way. There's something wholly familiar, yet seductively unidentifaible about her.

'Friend For Life' is Arvizu's story, strung into a dozen songs sung both in English and Spanish - songs of love, despair and survival. In the mid 70s as the lead singer of legendary Latino band El Chicano, Arvizu and the band became known as one of the ambassadors of the East Los Angeles sound, an amalgam of rock, jazz, R&B and Latin groove.
