Jeremy Roake, Josef Orlowski and Robert Jamieson make up the experimental New Zealand rock group Rogue Giraffe. The trio took the band name from one of their spoken word pieces.
Their music draws on a range of styles; folk, celtic, soul and rock, the music is varied, eclectic and seems to defy categorization, words are central to the character and structure of the songs; four of the tracks on the CD have a strong spoken word component and a 'theatrical' flavor, inspired by the likes of Tom Waits, Jethro Tull, Captain Beefheart, Brian Eno, and David Bowie.
