Starting Over

Kere's first solo venture, 'Starting Over' features self-penned songs and co-writes with Glenn Bidmead & Steve Clisby. This album is in the jazz / rock genre and features a host of local talent.

"i originally came up with the idea conceptually for this album about 10 years ago. as i'm not a lead vocalist, but have a love for a lot of different types of vocal music, i thought why not make a record with both an array of talent instrumentally & vocally… i guess similar to how quincy jones made his solo records.

i really wanted to make an album as close to an analog sounding jazz/rock/r'n'b type record, as a lot of my favourite albums that i loved & still love listening to today are records by artists such as al jarreau, randy crawford, chaka khan, quincy jones, michael jackson, james ingram, patti austin, luther vandross, lionel richie, george benson, sergio mendes, ivan lins, steely dan, toto, boz scaggs, larry carlton, lee ritenour, dave grusin, joe sample, david sanborn & jeff lorber to name a few! i guess the common thread with all of these amazing artists' records is great songs/tunes, as well as great production & great playing.

starting over is therefore my first, & definitely not my last, attempt at creating i guess a sound that encapsulates all these types of artists & records influentially both musically and performance wise, but hopefully creating a sound that is, i guess, kez.
