Remember Who You Are

Korn's ninth studio effort marks a return to form for the modern metal powerhouse. Enlisting famed producer Ross Robinson, the man who helmed the boards on their first two albums, guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer explains the dynamic, saying, "Teaming up with Ross has brought that raw, emotional feeling back to the music. Ross is the only person in the world that's ever been able to draw us to that place. He reminds us why we're here, why these songs are important to our fans and why what we do as a band relates. He made us remember how our music saves lives, and he came into the picture at the perfect time. We had no record label and just wanted to make a great album. Ross stepped in at the right moment to hit the reset button."

No pro-tools, no fancy editing, just classic, raw, heavy Korn. Korn's ninth studio album Remember who you are is a return to the simple intense style of the early days without seeming like a backwards step. Right from the first track "Oildale (Leave Me Alone)" it is apparent the bells and whistles of recent experimental albums have been stripped away. The track buzzes with an eerie clean guitar that slowly gives way to a steamrolling bass and riff assault.

Musically, the group has created an audible fusion reminiscent of Life Is Peachy, Issues, and Follow The Leader. Jonathon Davis' vocals are as sick and twisted as ever, while James 'Munky' Shaffer melds sadistic riffs into Davis' emotional verses. Throughout the entire album, the band powers on like a well-oiled machine, with stand out tracks being "Move On", "Let the Guilt Go", and "Holding All These Lies".
