A specially compiled and newly re-mastered 'Best of' CD, to commemorate music legend John Lennon's 70th birthday on 9 October, 2010.
"October 9th 2010 would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday. To commemorate the life of the greatest of rock legends, 'Power to the People' presents his (solo) musical legacy.
Following on from the 2009 Beatles re-masters, 'Power to the People' takes Lennon's solo work (including his material with the Plastic Ono Band) and gives it the treatment this legend deserves. Fully re-mastered and presented together, John Lennon's 'hits' make for an impressive album indeed.
The set opens with the rousing "Power to the People" and moves through the biting political treatise "Gimme Some Truth", the beautiful "Woman", and my personal fav "Instant Karma". The lovely "Jealous Guy" is here, as is the romantic "(Just Like) Starting Over"; Lennon's (perhaps definitive) interpretation of Ben E King's "Stand By Me", and his singalong protest songs "Give Peace a Chance" and "Happy Xmas".
Of course no John Lennon collection would ever be complete without "Imagine", which remains Lennon's greatest post-Beatles musical legacy, and also perhaps the most stirring song ever recorded."
