"It has been over half a century since Rock n Roll's greatest showman Jerry Lee Lewis first rocketed to the top of America's pop, country and R&B charts with "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and "Great Balls of Fire". More recently (2006 to be exact) Jerry Lee released the stunning 'Last Man Standing', which combined Jerry Lee's rock n roll showmanship with some of the best rock, blues and jazz artists around.
2010 see "The Killer" bringing us 'Mean Old Man'. Again teaming up with some of the best in the business, this time ramping up the country with Ronnie Wood on Kris Kristofferson's "Mean Old Man", chants his sorrows with Merle Haggard on Merle's "Swinging Doors", twangs with Mick Jagger on "Dead Flowers", croons with Bluegrass empress Gillian Welch on "Please Release Me" and teams up with the ultimate swamp rocker John Fogerty on "Bad Moon Rising".
While perhaps the most surprising collaboration, "Rockin' My Life Away" is also perhaps the best, classic swinging rock n roll punctuated by Jerry Lee's impossibly fast lyrics, Kid Rock's rasping vocal and Slash's tasty riffs, and declares
"my name is Jerry Lee Lewis and I'm damn sure here to stay"."
