Candi Staton is undoubtedly one of the finest southern Soul singers ever to grace a music recording.
From 1969 to 1973 Staton was a part of the FAME label, her 1st single reached the top 10, her voice told stories of heartbreak and although it want until many, many years later that she expressed what had been happening you could tell listening to her music she hadn't had an easy life.
So Ace have put together this 2 x CD set featuring a bonus 12 tracks of unreleased material from sessions recorded just before she signed her major label deal with Warner Records. Even without the extra tracks this would be a great collection, so we're very lucky to get all this extra music that was lost.
