Me Moan is Daughn Gibson's second full-length record, and his first with Sub Pop.

Daughn Gibson writes songs people like to call 'country-noir' - stories of horror and heartbreak on the highway and in fetid, backwater towns. Raised in a small coal-mining town in Pennsylvania, as a teenager Gibson played in hardcore and stoner metal bands. Drawn to the seedier side of suburban life, he worked in dive bars and at a sex shop before getting his truckers license at the age of 22. Listening to local radio between truck stops, by attrition he developed a lasting taste for country music.

Gibson's debut, All Hell, was composed of samples ripped from old country and gospel records and bound together by drum sequencers and Gibson's distinctive baritone.

His latest release, Me Moan, is a more collaborative effort, with musicians brought in to complement the structures he'd already created in Ableton.

He recorded their sessions, sampling and redeploying the parts he liked. The resulting album is busier and more ambitious than his earlier work, drawing from a wider palette that features horns, strings, live drums and lap steel.
