The soundtrack to the teen coming-of-age film set in Modesto, California in 1962 that relatively unknown director George Lucas released in 1973. Featuring a stellar line up of American classics from the period, the soundtrack became a major hit in it's own right. The budget from the licensing of all of these songs left no money for an orchestrated score so Lucas used the music on this compilation to direct the mood of the film.
