La Pasionaria

La Pasionaria was the nickname of Dolores lbarruri, an inspirational figure to generations of Latin American women. Through the songs on Delphian's album of the same name, singer Valentina Montoya Martínez tells stories of
life in her native Chile and of exile in England; stories of the high life, the low life, girls on the town, girls looking for love. This fascinating program also features music of the tango nuevo, represented here in six tracks by Astor Piazzolla, including a song and three instrumental interludes from his operita Maria de Buenos Aires. Partnered with the ensemble Mr McFall s Chamber, Martínez s performances have an earthy intensity and sultry sensuality.
