Born in Pennsylvannia in 1912, reputedly the seventh son of a seventh son, Perry Como began his working life as a barber with his own business, often singing as he clipped! At the urging of many of his regular customers he successfully auditioned for the Freddy Carlone touring band and his singing career was launched.
Avid's latest re-mastered CD release presents many of Perry Como's classic songs from his peak period between 1949-1951 when he had his own 15 minute radio show, and was one of the worlds top crooners alongside Bing Crosby (who gave him the "casual" tag of our title!), Frank Sinatra and Dick Haymes.
