Out Of The Shadows

The Shadows second album under their own name (they had previously appeared on a number of Cliff Richard's albums) was eagerly anticipated, especially as their first platter had topped the chart. Whilst the expectation was that the second album Out Of The Shadows would be an all-instrumental affair, both the group and their producer Norrie Paramor were keen to show that there was a lot more to the group than churning out a succession of instrumentals. Thus Out Of The Shadows is a very balanced album, designed to showcase the full range of abilities and talents of the group to perfection. The group had changed too, with Brian Bennett having replaced Tony Meehan and Brian Locking replacing Jet Harris midway through the recording sessions for the album. Brian Bennett proved to be a valuable acquisition too, helping compose four of the album's six original compositions. The album proved a major success, topping the album chart for seven weeks, even though no singles were released (although two EPS did well on their chart).
