Dreaming of summer? Well, 20-year-old New Yorker Elliot Moss and his debut LP Highspeeds are your dream come true. If you're a fan of James Blake and Chet Faker then look no further than Moss for your latest hit of smooth-as -they-come alternative electronic beats. Do yourself a favour though: slip in some headphones, slop on your couch and slap on this Yank's chilled out vibes.

Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and visual artist, the wunderkind released his 10-track album late last year and pretty much played, recorded and mixed it all by himself. Downtempo, laid back and full of soul: welcome to your new fav headphone album.

Opening track Highspeeds unwinds with layer upon layer of Moss' drowsy harmonies. Looping guitar and synths then wash over the melody and float in and out of this blissfully lazy beat. Changing up the pace, experimental rock tune Big Bad Wolf slides into a funky bass line and cruises away with Moss' soulful vocals before Pattern Repeating, Plastic II and Faraday Cage enter some moodier Radiohead-channelling waters. How much smoother could it get?

So, so, so much smoother. Sit back and relax with the album's loosest track yet - Slip. Downbeat and stripped back, it glides along with soothing vocals, jazz undertones and some seriously laid back vibes. Minimal alternative electronica at its fucking smoothest, this might just be the coolest new tune to come through your headphones since last summer. - Music News Nashville
