The Kinks were an English rock band formed in North London, in 1963 by brothers Dave and Ray Davies, along with Pete Quaife. The band, which rose to fame during the mid-1960s and were part of the British Invasion of the US, are recognised as one of the most important and influential rock groups of the era.Their music was influenced by a wide range of genres, including rhythm and blues, British music hall, folk and country. New 2CD set featuring original versions of all the songs from the phenomenally successful London West End musical 'Sunny Afternoon' based on the music of The Kinks, other hits and classic tracks related to the musical and BBC Kinks interviews / session tracks from the 1960s.

Based on the formation and career of The Kinks, the world premiere of 'Sunny Afternoon' was in 2014 at the Hampstead Theatre London before it transferred to the West End's Harold Pinter Theatre. The show has been extended yet again and will run until at least April 2016. Music and lyrics by Ray Davies / book by Joe Penhall. All tracks personally selected by Ray Davies who is fully involved in the project. Features nine UK Top 5 hit singles including three Number Ones. The musical 'Sunny Afternoon' is the winner of four Laurence Olivier Awards (2015): Best New Musical, Best Actor In A Musical, Best Actor In A Supporting Role In A Musical, Outstanding Achievement In Music - Ray Davies. Ray Davies and other band members will participate in the TV, radio and online promotion of this release.
