X-Communicate (LP)

The Dum Dum Girls wasn't an easy part of her life to shake off, so says Kristin Welchez former front women for the rock band, the Dum Dum Girls. They were a monumental part in her life, a band she started close to a decade ago which produced three albums, four EP's and a bold brace of singles that allowed them to tour the world together as a unifying force of females who weren't to be reckoned with.

But, all good things must come to an end, and this time, for the better, as Dee Dee transforms into Kristin Kontrol, an appropriate name for Kristin Welchez as she takes control over her life and musical career. She has this to say:

"I feel free. I had to excommunicate myself to be able to explore. Even if I have to rebuild my whole career, I'd rather work tirelessly then feel stagnant. I feel excited again, and you can't put a price on that."

The songs that emerge from Kristin's universe as Kristin Kontrol are familiar but unique. You can hear the touchstones of new wave, R&B, synthpop, krautrock, postpunk, and even reggae, but X-Communicate uses genre rather than adheres to it and does so with a distinct nod to the present.
