The debut album for Auckland-based songwriter and producer Thomston comes on the heels of 2014's Argonaut EP and 2015's Backbone release. Compared with Frank Ocean, Lorde, Sohn and Broods, he's got the attention of music bloggers and his songs have had millions of Spotify streams.
Thomston describes his sound as meeting "at the boundary of pop, R&B and electronic ambient music". On Backbone he says: "It's just about everything else that was going on in my life," he says. "I wanted to capture it before things changed, before I was away from my friends and family a lot. Before I meet all these new people and my world view is changed."
