One of the original guitar bands, The Ventures were the hottest instrumental band in the USA after their classic Walk Don't Run became an international hit in 1960 and they went on to become the biggest selling instrumental group of all time with sales of 100 million records! In fact it is often said, (by us anyway) that they quite literally put The Shadows, well, in the shadows! While their heyday was certainly in the 1960s where after their initial success they then caught the wave of the west coast surfing craze alongside The Beach Boys, of course, as well as other instrumental bands such as Dick Dale and The Challengers. Their popularity declined in the seventies but thanks to Quentin Tarantino their fortunes revived once again and they are still going strong today, albeit with a rather different line up!
