Entrenched social chaos and systemic failure delivered by capitalism's inability to respond rationally to fundamental material issues is becoming more and more evident and palpable to all of us.

In their first release since 2018, Tāmaki Makaurau's Nuggiez have put together a selection of tracks detailing the chaos that increasingly swirls around us while attempting to draw focus to the structural defects that repeatedly and consistently deliver it.

For over 5 years Nuggiez have pursued creative evolution while always retaining a sum-of-their-parts mentality in song-writing, a DIY approach in their production processes and a commitment to constantly sharpening their social commentary in the truest spirit and tradition of punk. Their new album marks a convergence of these efforts for the band, who have attempted to embrace the necessity of creative evolution, resulting in their longest-running, most conceptually focused and stylistically diverse release yet.

Following the release of their 2018 EP Holocene Ruina, Nuggiez parted ways with founding bassist Benjamin Wright, taking up an offer from fellow D.I.Y traveler Martin Phillips to fill the void. With this latest release, Phillips' contribution has proven undeniably essential to the band's growth.

Toil In The Time of Monsters is an attempt to go beyond repetitive anti-establishment punk clichés, representing a nascent phenomenon of sincere, culturally momentous commentary and sonically diverse, explorative heavy music.
