The Smooth Sounds of Tres Leches, LHCC Mart Vol. 1 (Cream & White Marble LP)

Brainfeeder introduces Tres Leches - a trio of heart-wrenching troubadours consisting of Hiatus Kaiyote's Paul Bender and Simon Mavin, joined by touring band member and long time collaborator Alejandro "Silentjay" Abapo - and their forthcoming album 'The Smooth Sounds of Tres Leches, LHCC Mart Vol. 1', arriving 15th August to the label. With the announcement, they share a rendition of LHCC single "Telescope".

Lovingly recorded and mixed in various hotel rooms on off days of a North American tour, Tres Leches turn the lights down low and reimagine HK classics like "Get Sun", "Red Room", "Make Friends", "Nakamarra" and more to stir passions, ignite the senses and soothe the savage beast within. Originally envisioned as the soundtrack to an imaginary supermarket for Hiatus Kaiyote's 'Love Heart Cheat Code', these sultry and sensual renditions of Hiatus Kaiyote classics soon took on a life of their own.

"The vast majority of this record was made on the road while touring with HK, in green rooms or hotels, the three of us would borrow our front-of-house engineer's travel speakers, open up someone's laptop and have at it! Most of the sounds are plugins, but sometimes we would pull a sound from a Yamaha reface or the Korg Kronos, as well as our manager's cheap nylon string guitar and Jay's succulent soprano sax. Hiatus Kaiyote - the quartet consisting of Naomi "Nai Palm" Saalfield (guitar, vocals), Paul Bender (bass), Simon Mavin (keyboards), and Perrin Moss (drums) - has been sampled by many household names including The Carters (Beyoncé & Jay-Z), Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, Chance The Rapper, and Drake-with whom Nai Palm also collaborated on his Scorpion album. They've also received co-signs from celebrated artists including SZA, Kehlani, Willow Smith, and Virgil Abloh, among others. Last fall, Doja Cat covered 'Mood Valiant' single "Red Room" at the Live Lounge in Los Angeles and continued to perform the song across her tour.
