Ōtautahi-based artist L A Mitchell, aka Lauren Barus, (Terrible Sons, Fly My Pretties, Bill Withers Social Club) makes a stunning return with her new album, Meaningful Work, melding all her previous voyages in music into one.
The album - a blissful journey of honest lyrics and edgy beats wrapped in lush layers of experimental alt-pop with Mitchell's powerful and precise vocals - marks the beginning of a new trajectory for L A Mitchell.
'It's like digging for buried treasure in these songs - we put so many little sonic details of meaning in each piece,' Lauren says.
