"A complex hybrid somewhere between the Kinks at their most relaxed and the Band at their most committed, Vetiver have made a record that's as summery as a field full of butterflies." - The Guardian, UK (4 stars).

Vetiver is centred around the delicate voice and guitar of chief songwriter Andy Cabic, and fleshed out with an ever-changing and hugely talented lineup, aided and abetted by some of the finest players in the extended family Cabic finds himself a member of.

Moving to San Francisco in the late '90s, Cabic soon gathered together musicians including violinist Jim Gaylord, cellist Alissa Anderson and singer-songwriter friend Devendra Banhart – now all regular touring and studio members of Vetiver. Cabic himself has become a fixture in Banhart's band, ever since Vetiver's self-titled debut, released late in '04.

With songs diverse in range, gorgeously arranged and lingering long in the memory, it stood out as one of the year's finest. Additional players included Joanna Newsom, Hope Sandoval [Mazzy Star] and Colm O'Ciosoig [My Bloody Valentine].

Since that opening album, Cabic has spent long stints on the road, with both Vetiver and Devendra Banhart. Written and recorded in free time during that period of intense touring, the follow up, 'To Find Me Gone', is a freer and more mature effort, a well-constructed and immediately engaging record, markedly shifting Vetiver's sound into a different direction.

Based around lush, acoustic textures, simple yet charming arrangements and a core of really strong writing, the sound of 'To Find Me Gone' takes influence from a deep well of influences: late '60s pastoral folk, tropicalia, '70s West Coast rock and much more beyond - Brazilian music, the Carter Family, Randy Newman, Kelley Stoltz, Fleetwood Mac, Velvet Underground, Creedence Clearwater Revival… but those are loose reference points. Vetiver's is an inventive yet well-anchored presence, fragile sounding but strong, warm and beautifully layered. Cabic is one of this generation's most talented songwriters.

"This 2nd album from Vetiver positively crackles with an exuberant musicality.”
