In 2008, 2 years after the acclaimed 'To Find Me Gone' album, Andy Cabic & Vetiver released 'Thing of the Past' - a new album of old songs, all hidden treasures, a mixtape of Cabic's favourite songs - performed by he & friends.

'Thing of the Past' features versions of original songs by Hawkwind, Loudon Wainwright III, Biff Rose, Ian Matthews & Garland Jeffreys. Rather than obvious plundering from the well-worn rock canon, these are largely overlooked & forgotten tunes, spanning a period from 1967-1973, dusted off, reverently refashioned & given the opportunity to sing again. Though, to be fair, it's Cabic's warm, honey-toned vocals which hog the limelight.

Produced by Thom Monahan & Cabic, 'Thing of the Past' reveals a group in full mastery of their craft: core Vetiver members Cabic, Brent Dunn, Sanders Trippe, Otto Hauser & Kevin Barker, are fluid yet fully aligned. 'Thing of the Past' also features appearances from Vashti Bunyan & Michael Hurley, each duetting with Cabic.
