Tru Thoughts first ever DVD release sees Alice Russell and band performing a live gig in Paris!

Alice's live collaboration with her producer and oracle TM Juke has wowed audiences from New Zealand to The Netherlands, and this feverish reaction lead to the popular indie label's first live DVD.

Alice switches genres with natural grace and style, aided and abetted by her regular touring band. 'Live In Paris' includes tracks from her work with TM Juke, Quantic, Nostalgia 77 and The Quantic Soul Orchestra, with particular highlights including covers of The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army", OutKast's "Dracula's Wedding" and Nina Simone's "My Baby Just Cares for Me".

This is music that tugs at the emotions and raises hairs on the back of the neck. You really can't fake what Miss Russell's got!

Alice's lavishly soulful voice is both timeless and up to the minute modern. Live or on record, she always performs with her trademark self assurance and sass. Her style is a predominantly bluesy, soul lament but encompasses everything from funk to gospel to jazz and beyond. Her performances captivate the audience and command its attention.

This much is confirmed by the fact people who attended her Auckland show in 2007 are STILL talking about how brilliant it was!

Alice Russell's primary influences are golden voices such as Minnie Ripperton, Eva Cassidy, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin and Jill Scott. Alice's sensual, sublime voice has seen her work on many different projects in a number of capacities. Her work with Bah Samba finds her fusing latin sounds with tinges of house, uplifting jazz and funk, while she has also appeared recently on tracks by The Bamboos, The Nextmen and of course, on TM Juke's excellent album, 'Forward'.

'Live In Paris' is no U2-styled production, but rather a snapshot of Alice Russell at her intense, intimate and exciting best - live!
