This Mexican-born guitar duo have upped the stakes with covers of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" and Metallica's "Orion". 'RYG' entered the charts in Ireland at number 1 - a first for an instrumental album!

Rodrigo and Gabriela are a Mexican-born guitar duo who as teenagers played in thrash metal bands together. They left Mexico and went on to travel round Europe, busking in most of the continent's capital cities before settling in Dublin Ireland.

Rodrigo and Gabriela play a melodious riff-based sound influenced by the lamentations of southern Spain but not restricted to - or really rooted in - them. They favour melody over distortion, but you can still pick out their rock roots, with some impressive, impossibly fast fretwork and lots of mutual, competitive emoting.

Rodrigo Y Gabriella showed their roots with an amazing cover of Metallicas "One" on their live recording and have upped that this time round with covers of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" and Metallica's "Orion".

'Rodrigo Y Gabriella' entered the charts in Ireland at number 1 - this would be a first for an instrumental album!
