Flight of the Conchords - the kiwi comedy folk duo who have had a runaway success with their HBO show of the same name - are among the few New Zealanders to ever win a Grammy award! Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement won "Best Comedy Album" for their EP 'The Distant Future'.

"Though really just a teaser for the duo's upcoming full-length, 'The Distant Future' is a nice synopsis of everything Flight of the Conchords does well: deadpan wit, uncomfortably good songwriting and a sober absurdity that more often than not plays in the same league as Monty Python's best musical parodies."

Finally! Sub Pop's debut release from NZ's folk / comedy duo and HBO phenoms, Flight of the Conchords! 'The Distant Future' EP includes the tracks "Business Time", "If You're Into It" and "Not Crying", as well as live versions of "The Most Beautiful Girl In The Room" and "Robots". Plus, there's live banter! Sub Pop will be releasing a Flight of the Conchords full-length recording sometime in early '08.

The two Kiwis behind FOTC are Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clements. Both have long been involved in NZ film, music, theatre and TV {& yes, 'Lord Of The Rings', OK?}, with Bret a member of The Black Seeds and founding member of The Wellington Ukulele Orchestra; and Jemaine starring in Taika Waititi's recent 'Eagle vs Shark', as well as having been involved in a wide array of acting roles from the stage to the small screen - 'Tongan Ninja', anyone?

In '98, the pair teamed up to create Flight of the Conchords. Formed originally to improve their limited guitar skills, FOTC subsequently toured Europe, USA and Aus. The duo has collected several awards from the International Comedy circuit, including a nomination for the Perrier Award at the '04 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, "Best Newcomer" at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and "Best Alternative Comedy Act" at the '05 US Comedy Arts Festival.

They have created an award-winning BBC Radio series, released a live comedy album, 'Folk the World', debuted on HBO in '05 with their own "One Night Stand" and are recording a new comedy album for Sub Pop Records.

After building up a cult following in America and inking a deal for a second series, the hit HBO musical comedy series starring FOTC is here! The quirky 12-part series follows Bret and Jemaine as they move to NY in the hope of forging a successful music career. Since arriving in NY, they find themselves a manager, Murray {Rhys Darby}, whose other job's at the NZ Consulate, an obsessive fan, Mel {Kristin Schaal} who is a married, and one friend Dave {Arj Barker}, who owns the local pawn shop. According to Murray, Bret is the "shy, confident" one. He's the naïve, easygoing half of the band. The self-styled "ladies man" of the group, Jemaine's bold look has been likened to that of "an ogre who works in a library". Ahem. Trust us - this is hilarious…
